Broughton Place
The brief
A New Town basement flat, bought needing modernisation, and a client open to doing it properly rather than quickly. What started as a refurbishment scope grew, with our involvement, into a complete transformation of the lower floor.
The work
Working beneath a listed New Town townhouse meant every structural decision, from the cellar tanking to the patio extension and the new garden office, needed listed building consent from the council, informed by Historic Environment Scotland's guidance. We planned the sequence so approvals never stalled the trades on site, re-floored and re-plumbed throughout, added a new en-suite, and turned three unused cellars into a laundry room and a dining space clients now use every week.
